The 68-year-old made the remarks in an interview with France 24, where he also reiterated his government’s commitment to ensuring the vote is credible.
“The elections will be free and transparent,” he said, insisting on the importance of having “strong democratic institutions”.
Issoufou has ruled the West African country since 2011.
In his interview, the Nigerien leader also pledged to apprehend the criminals responsible for the killing of six French citizens and two Nigeriens in August.
He pledged that his government will do everything possible to bring the killers to justice.
