A group of unidentified gunmen attacked a town in the northern state of Kaduna, abducting seven people, a local security source told Xinhua on Saturday.

The gunmen invaded Barkallahu community in Igabi area of the state at about 1:30 a.m. local time on Friday, the source said, adding that the gunmen shot sporadically into the air and went from house to house to pick their victims.

Five victims are members of the same family, the source said.

The northern part of Nigeria has witnessed a series of attacks by armed groups in recent months.
