Senegalese forward Mohamed Coulibaly put in an inspired performance as F.C. Vaduz won promotion to the Swiss Super League after defeating F.C. Thun in the Swiss Super League relegation playoff final.

Coulibaly scored twice and set up another goal as Vaduz lost 4-3 at Stockhorn Arena in Thun but won the two-legged tie 5-4 on aggregate following a 2-0 win at home four days ago.

Vaduz opened the scoring in the 19th minute after Thun goalkeeper Guillaume Faivre spilled a shot from Tunahan Cicek allowing Dominik Schwizer to chip the ball for Coulibaly to head into an empty net.

Thun leveled the score four minutes before halftime after Vaduz goalkeeper Benjamin Buchel put the ball into his own net.

Thun then took the lead two minutes after halftime when Burkinabe midfielder Hassane Kande set up Leonardo Bertone to fire in a shot from outside the box and make it 2-1.

Vaduz leveled four minutes later when Manuel Sutter released Coulibaly and the Senegalese showed great composure to squeeze the ball underneath Faivre.

Coulibaly then set up Cicek for a one-on-one chance allowing the Swiss man to pull Vaduz ahead in the 69th minute leaving Thun with a near impossible deficit to overhaul.

However, DR Congo forward Ridge Munsy set up a nervy finale with a wonderful strike from outside the box to make it 3-3 shortly before Gabriel Luchinger was sent off for Vaduz after a second bookable offence. Simone Rapp added a fourth deep into injury time but it was not enough for Thun to stave off relegation.

As a result, Vaduz, a side from Liechtenstein, returned to the Swiss Super League for the first time in three years while Thun dropped to the Swiss Challenge League after 10 years in the top tier.
