
6 more Ugandan truck drivers test positive for COVID-19
Uganda’s ministry of health on Sunday reported 11 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 696.
Out of 2,949 samples collected from cross-border cargo truck drivers and community over the last 24 hours, 6 Ugandan truck drivers who arrived through the border points of Elegu and Malaba, 4 contacts and alert cases and a frontline health worker tested positive for the virus, said the statement.
Additionally, 33 foreign truck drivers who tested positive for COVID-19 at Uganda’s various border points were handed over to their countries of origin, it said.
According to the ministry, 41 more patients were discharged from various hospitals after successful treatment, bringing the total number of recoveries to 240 and no death was recorded since the index case was reported on March 21.
