At least four militants of terror group Boko Haram were killed when Cameroonian troops repelled a coordinated attack launched in the country’s Far North region, the army said Saturday morning.

Weapons used by the terror group were also seized during the attack that took place Friday night in Sagme, a locality in the region.

“The terrorists came to attack the locality and were ambushed by troops who were secretly stationed there. Two of them were killed on the spot. A gun battle started and lasted for over four hours. Two others were killed in the process,” a senior military officer who asked not to be named told Xinhua.

One government force was seriously injured in the battle, according to the army.

More than 2,000 people have been killed since Boko Haram launched attacks in the Far North since 2014, according to security reports.
