Uganda confirms 35 new COVID-19 cases
Uganda’s Ministry of Health on Friday reported 35 new cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 557.
According to the Health Ministry, all the new cases are from 2,267 samples tested on Thursday June 4.
Additionally, 31 foreign truck drivers, from Kenya, Tanzania, Congo and Burundi, tested positive for the virus and were handed back to their respective countries of origin.
“To date, Uganda has registered a total of 82 COVID-19 recoveries and no COVID-19 deaths,” the Ministry concluded.
This comes as Uganda’s Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, announced on his Twitter page that he has gone into self isolation after some of his contacts tested positive for the virus.
“Friends, I have gone into self isolation after some of my contacts tested positive for #COVID19. My own test result is negative, however, I have taken this decision as a health recommended measure,” he tweeted.
