Rilwanu Mohammed, executive chairman of Bauchi State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, told reporters that a case of COVID-19 reported early has greater chances to get treated and recover than cases of Lassa fever in the state.

He said the state government has intensified training of staff on how to carry out effective fumigation and spraying to prevent the spread of the disease.

Lassa fever is reportedly transmitted when saliva, urine and excreta of rats come into contact with humans. In some cases, it has similar symptoms as malaria.
