Mauritania reported on Friday six new confirmed cases of COVID-19, bringing the total number of cases to 26 in the country, Mauritanian Information Agency (MIA) reported.

“There are 5 cases in Nouakchott and one in the province of Assaba,” the official news agency said, quoting the country’s health ministry.

Health authorities in Mauritania reported on Wednesday and Thursday seven and four new cases of COVID-19 respectively.

Last week, the Mauritanian authorities decided to ease certain measures initially taken as part of the national response to the COVID-19 pandemic. The government said in a statement that the new curfew schedule would be from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., instead of 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Mauritania has reported two deaths and seven recovery cases since March 13.
