Former Home Affairs Minister Mwigulu Nchemba was on Saturday appointed as Minister for Constitutional Affairs and Justice, the presidency said in a statement.

Nchemba replaces Augustine Mahiga who died on Friday in the capital Dodoma after a short illness.

Nchemba, a Member of Parliament for Iramba West, was sacked as Home Affairs Minister on July 1, 2018 by President Magufuli in a mini-cabinet reshuffle.

He was then replaced by Kangi Lugola who served as Deputy Minister in the Vice-President’s Office responsible for Environment.

However, Magufuli sacked Lugola from the home affairs docket in January 2020 over graft allegations.
