Kenya reports eight new COVID-19 cases
Kenya has recorded eight new COVID-19 cases, bringing the country’s total number of confirmed cases to 270.
The new figure was announced by Dr Mercy Mwangangi, the Chief Administrative Secretary in the Ministry of Health.
Dr Mwangangi noted that of the eight new patients, seven were Kenyans and one is a foreign national, all of whom do not have records of recent travel.
“I am glad to also announce that we have seven other discharges today, taking the number of recoveries to 67,” the CAS said.
Kenya is one of 52 African countries that have reported cases of the disease. It has recorded more than 2,600 cases and 137 deaths.
Africa has reported more than 2,1000 cases and over 1,000 deaths, according to the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.
In her briefing, Dr Mwangangi warned Kenyans against defying partial lockdown measures, saying those who will be found to flout the law will be put in forced quarantine.
