The Moroccan police announced the arrest of 13 hooligans over their suspected acts of vandalism following the football match Wednesday evening in Rabat between Armed Forces Club (FAR) and the Rajae club of Casablanca.
They were suspected of being involved in acts of violence, including stone-throwing, public property damaging, possession of bladed weapons and flares and violence, Moroccan police said in a statement.
Three policemen, two elements of the Civil Protection and 22 fans were injured in the violence, it said, adding that 19 police vehicles, a Civil Protection truck, an ambulance and six private vehicles were damaged.
Investigations are underway to identify all the people involved in these acts, it said.
Morocco’s stadiums see from time to time acts of vandalism from hooligans supporting particularly the big teams of Wydad and Raja Casablanca or AS FAR of Rabat.
On September 25, a small ministerial cabinet decided to take firm measures to tackle the rise of hooliganism in Morocco.
