At least 13 pupils from Kakamega Primary School were killed during a stampede at the school on Monday evening in Western Kenya.
Thirty nine others were injured and rushed to the Kakamega County Referral Hospital.
Kakamega Central police commander David Kabena confirmed the incident.
Reports indicate that the pupils were leaving for home when a stampede occurred.
The cause of the stampede is yet to be established.
There was confusion at the hospital as parents and members of the public flocked to the entrance seeking information about their little ones.
