Burundian president Nkurunziza to get $530,000 upon leaving office
Burundi’s national assembly has voted to pay President Pierre Nkurunziza $530,000 (£400,000) and provide him with a luxury villa when he leaves office in May.

The draft law, which has been presented to the cabinet for approval, also awards him a lifetime salary.
It also proposes that Mr. Nkurunziza be elevated to the title of “supreme leader” when he steps down.
The new legislation, which was passed this week by 98-2 margin would also benefit former presidents but only those who were democratically elected.
The retired president will also get the same benefits as a serving vice-president for seven years after he steps down, and will for the rest of his life get an allowance equal to that of a lawmaker, the report says.
