American President Donald Trump on Wednesday confirmed that not a single American soldier was harmed during the dawn missile attacks that were directed at U.S targets in Iraq.
“I am pleased to inform you that the American people should be extremely grateful and happy, no Americans were harmed in last night attacks by the Iranian regime,Trump said. Only minimal damage was sustained on to our military bases and all our soldiers are safe.
His long awaited response comes hours after Iranian forces fired rockets aimed at American bases in Ain al-Assad base in Anbar province and a facility near Erbil’s airport in northern Iraq early on Wednesday morning.
Recently Iran vowed to avenge the killing of the elite Quds Force commander, Qassem Soleimani who was killed by the U.S on Friday last week.
Trump affirmed that as long as he is the President of the United States, the middle east country will not be allowed to have a nuclear weapon.
Instead, he said he would impose more economic sanctions on Iran and called on NATO allies to become more involved in the Middle East.
On Sunday Iran signified it would no longer be bound by the restrictions on its nuclear programme, outlined in the 2015 deal known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, or JCPOA. The deal was debated in the Security Council in December 2019.
The U.S President stated that “Iran appears to be standing down which is a good thing for all parties concerned and for the world.”
However, he warned that the American forces are more than prepared for any outcome and that no American or Iraqi lives were lost, on military base because of the precautions taken of an early warning system that worked very well ahead of Iranian missiles.
He said for too long nations have tolerated Iran and that those days are over.
On the killing of Iranian general who was buried on Tuesday,Trump said “The US eliminated the world’s top terrorist, whom fueled bloody civil wars in the region.”
“He maimed and killed many Americans including planting of roadside bombs.In recent days he was planning new attacks on American targets but we stopped him. Soleimani’s hands were drenched in American and Iranian blood.”
