US performing artist and social media icon, Cardi B, has begun her long-awaited West Africa concert tour.

The Grammy-winning rapper will be gracing stages at the Livespot X Festival in Lagos, Nigeria and Accra, Ghana this coming weekend.

The two-day, multi-venue festival will be Cardi B’s first-ever performances on the African continent.

While African social media users buzzed with excitement ahead of her arrival, the 27-year-old performer posted a video to her Instagram page which showed her dancing aboard a private jet.

“”1:03am drop my KK in NY on my way to Afrriiiiicaaaaaaaaaa baybeeeee!!!!!!,” she captioned the post.

The New Yorker’s excitement for her Africa trip was evident when her attendance at the festival was first announced. “Africa. I’m coming. Nigeria and Ghana,” she told fans via Instagram last month.

Cardi B’s arrival on the continent comes as Ghana’s ‘Year of Return’ comes to a close. The government-sponsored initiative focuses on tourism and migration by Afrodescendent heirs to the legacy of the transatlantic slave trade.

Later this month a massive ‘Afrochella’ music festival will help round off the year-long series of events by welcoming more Afrodescendant celebrities to Ghana on December 28.
