New explosion in Mali kills two soldiers: army
At least two soldiers were killed in Mali on Sunday in a second attack against security forces in three days.
The Malian army said the two soldiers died after an explosive detonated in the central part of the country.
The attack follows another devastating attack on Friday which claimed the lives of at least 53 soldiers and one civilian. The Daesh terrorist group claimed responsibility for that attack.
Mali has experienced heightened violence in recent weeks targeting its security forces, as it continues to battle terrorism.
Central Mali has been engulfed in violence since 2015, sparked by ethnic and land disagreements.
As authorities in the country continue to strive for peace, experts have called for the prioritization of addressing socio-economic and political causes of the insecurity.
