“China in Springtime – Sharing Opportunities with the World” Dialogue Held in Ethiopia
A forum held on Tuesday in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, has explored how Africa could seize the opportunities arising from China’s commitment to greater openness, as made during China’s recent legislative session in response to various global challenges.
In a keynote video address, Shen Haixiong, President and Editor-in-Chief of China Media Group (CMG), emphasized China’s resilience and growth potential in the new era by pointing to the country’s five percent growth target for 2025.

Bereket Fitsehatsion, the State Minister of Ethiopia’s Ministry of Planning and National Development, extended his congratulations on the successful convening of the “Two Sessions,” applauding China’s outstanding development achievements. He emphasized that China’s stable economic growth, technological innovation, and commitment to sustainable development have opened significant opportunities for the progress of Ethiopia and Africa as a whole. As a steadfast advocate of the “Belt and Road” initiative, he affirmed Ethiopia’s dedication to deepening collaboration with China.
Fekadu Tsega, Director of the Ethiopian Institute of Policy Studies, highlighted the significant benefits African nations could gain from China’s expertise in areas such as industrialization, artificial intelligence, e-commerce, and digital finance—key drivers of innovation and economic growth.

Echoing this sentiment, Chinese Ambassador to Ethiopia, Chen Hai, reaffirmed China’s steadfast commitment to enhancing economic and trade cooperation with Ethiopia, particularly in agriculture, animal husbandry, and infrastructure development.
The high-level dialogue, hosted by CMG, brought together around 70 prominent figures from Ethiopian political, academic, and media circles. Participants explored pathways for deeper collaboration between China and Africa.
