Kenya, Singapore exploring feasibility for direct flights
Kenya and Singapore are looking into the feasibility of establishing direct flights between the two countries.
President Kenyatta made the announcement during a panel discussion at the Singapore Summit 2019 on Kenya’s role in promoting closer partnership between Africa and Asia after delivering a keynote speech.
President Kenyatta noted that Kenya is a focal point for the whole of Africa and is connected to all parts of the continent, Europe and America.
President Kenyatta added that Kenya’s skilled labour force, vibrant service industry and ICT sector, and its strategic location position Kenya as the right gateway into Africa.
President Kenyatta also spoke about strengthening bilateral ties between Singapore and Kenya.
He urged both countries to boost mutual support in building and broadening of transport, communication, energy, housing, and ICT infrastructure in Kenya.
Additionally, he suggested the acceleration of mergers or collaborative arrangements between Asian companies and Kenyan companies.
President Kenyatta also touched on boosting relations between Africa and Asia in general.
President Kenyatta said there should be collaboration between Asia and Africa in cultural exchanges, capacity building and information sharing as a base for creating a new avenue of productivity and commerce.
