Kenya names marathon team for Paris Olympics
Kenya’s double Olympic gold medallist Eliud Kipchoge leads a team of 11 Kenyan marathoners who will compete at the Paris Olympics, Athletics Kenya (AK) announced on Thursday.
The Kenyan great will be aiming to complete a hat-trick of Olympic wins having won marathon gold in the previous two Games in Rio and Tokyo.
Kipchoge will be chasing more running history in the French capital where he could become the first athlete to achieve three Olympic marathon victories.
Reigning Olympic champion Peres Jepchirchir and former world record holder Brigid Kosgei will lead the women’s team.
They will compete alongside some formidable teammates, including Boston Marathon winner Hellen Obiri and the 2019 world champion Ruth Chepngetich.
