Read < 1 minute

Kenya’s standard gauge railway has been operating for about six years. The China-built “SGR” is a major part of Kenya’s national development program, which aims to transform the East African country into an industrialized and middle-income country. Its passenger service connects the port city of Mombasa and the capital Nairobi, while its freight service hauls containers destined for neighboring countries, thereby not just benefiting Kenya, but the wider region.
