The airstrikes targeted “positions and supply routes of Haftar’s war militias (army) in Asbi’ah and Shwerif towns (in southwest Libya),” spokesman of the government forces, Mohamed Gonono, said in a statement.
General Khalifa Haftar has been leading a military campaign since early April to take over the capital Tripoli from the government.
According to the World Health Organization, the fighting has so far killed more than 1,000 people, injured more than 5,700 others and displaced more than 120,000 people.
Libya has been suffering escalated violence and political instability ever since the fall of the late leader Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.
