At least seven killed in building collapse in Nigeria

Rescue teams recovered seven bodies from the debris of a two-storey building that collapsed late Monday in the central Nigerian city of Jos.

The head of rescue operations at the State Emergency Management Agency told reporters three injured persons were pulled from the debris and that one of them is in critical condition. The agency also says the number of casualties may increase as the rescue operation was still on-going.

It has been reported by local media in Jos that the owner of the building, Alhaji Kabiru Nalele, his two wives are among those who died.

State police spokesperson Terna Tyopev told Xinhua News agency that the cause of the collapse was yet to be ascertained.
