Former South African footballer Marc Batchelor shot dead
Police in Johannesburg are searching for at least two gunmen who shot and killed former South African footballer Marc Batchelor near his home.

“He was attacked by two men who were driving a motorbike,” police spokesman Col Lungelo Dlamini told the South African Broadcasting Corporation. Police say the ambush took place Monday night as Batchelor drove into his home.
“He died inside the car and they drove away without taking anything,” Col. Dlamini said.
Police interviewed the gardener who was with Batchelor and also appealing to anyone who might have information on this incident to contact them. At the moment police do not have a motive. The gardener was not hurt during the incident.
Batchelor played for Kaizer Chiefs, Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in South Africa.
Chiefs chairman, Kaizer Motaung expressed shock upon learning of Batchelor’s death.
“On behalf of Kaizer Chiefs, I wish to express my deepest heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, friends and the football fraternity. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
