Hunan offers tourist gems ahead of China Africa Economic and Trade Expo

Located in south central China, Hunan province is a tourist hotbed for both Chinese and foreign tourists.

From June 27-29, Hunan’s capital Changsha will play host to the first China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo.

With over 1,300 visitors and traders from 52 African countries signed up to attended the, the expo presents a unique opportunity for first time tourists to sample some of the province’s unique attractions.

Ahead of the expo, here are some attactions first time tourists can look out for while in Hunan Province.

Rich Culture

Hunan’s culture and tourism industries have a strong foundation. Currently, there are two UNESCO world natural heritage sites in Zhangjiajie and Langshan, and one UNESCO world cultural heritage site in Laosicheng. Kun Opera, Hunan shadow play, Miluo Dragon Boat Festival Customs, and China’s 24 Solar Terms have been listed on the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

Beautiful Scenery

The province boasts of splendid mountains and rivers. With abundant places of interest, it is a famous tourist destination for both Chinese and foreign tourists.

There are many lakes and rivers in Hunan. As well as forming natural ecological barriers, the “one lake, three mountains and four rivers” of Hunan also provide world-class natural attractions and resources.

Transport Infrastructure

Hunan Province is strategically located in the special zone of “one belt and one region”, which is in the transition zone of the Eastern Coastal Region and the Central and Western Region, and the combination zone of the Yangtze River Open Economic Belt and the Coastal Open Economic Belt.

This makes the province vital in connecting the east, west, north and south parts of China via improved high-speed railway, intercity railway, maglev train, expressway, aviation and other comprehensive and convenient transport systems.

The inaugural China-Africa Economic and Trade Expo will be held under the theme “Win-Win Cooperation for Closer China-Africa Economic and Trade Partnership”.
