Guinea’s Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has declared he will be ready for his national side’s Africa Cup of Nations duty in Egypt later this month.

The 24-nyear-old has been recovering from injury he sustained last month while on duty for the Merseyside club in the Champions League.

“Upon my arrival here, I am going to train with the team to see what’s next. I like to assure the fans, my teammates and the coach that I should be ready for Guinea’s first match<” keita said after linking up with his teammates.

“I am 100% motivated.”

Guinea is pooled in Group B alongside Nigeria, Madagascar and Burundi.

The 2019 AFCON will be The Elephants’ 12 appearance at the elite continental competition.

Their best performance in the tournament came in 1976 when they finished runners up.

Keita’s declaration that he will be available for selection for AFCON duty could be a cause for worry for Liverpool.

The Merseyside club has a similar situation in June 2018 when Egypt included Mohamed Salah in their World Cup squad despite struggling with an injury.

The club will hope the Guinean does not aggravate his injury while on international duty.
