At least four people were killed and several others injured on Tuesday after a car exploded in Mogadishu, Somalia.
A security official named Mohamed Samow said that a suicide bomber drove a car loaded with explosives into the entrance of Wardhigley District offices.
An eyewitness said that the explosion was very large and destroyed several buildings and vehicles in the area. The witness added that the bodies of many people killed and injured were taken away in an ambulance.
According to security sources, the district mayor escaped from the incident unhurt.
No group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
Mogadishu has been hit by a wave of attacks in 2019 and authorities have increased the security at checkpoints to prevent further attacks during the holy month of Ramadan.
In March, at least 30 people were killed in two separate attacks on a complex housing government ministries and a restaurant in Mogadishu.
In April, four people were killed and five others injured after a car loaded with explosives detonated along Maka Al-Mukarama road.
Al-Shabaab fighters have been fighting for more than a decade in an attempt to dislodge the government.
