The Lamu archipelago lies off Kenya’s north-eastern coast and was one of the first landing and trading points in Africa for among others: The Portuguese, Chinese and Arabs.
It’s old town is today a UNESCO world heritage sight, while the rest of the island boasts of scenic beaches, traditional dhows and ancient architecture rooted in centuries of rich history.
Today, as Lamu forges its place in the future, it has become home to the Lamu port currently undergoing construction. The port will play a key role in the economic growth of Kenya; connecting the interests of several countries in East Africa and becoming yet another highlight of the Belt & Road Initiative.
