Liverpool’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mane has been shortlisted for the PFA Player of the Year awars alongside teammate Virgil van Dijk, Chelsea’s Eden Hazard and the Manchester City trio of Bernardo Silva, Raheem Sterling and Aguero.

Mane has had an impressive Premier League season so far, scoring 18 times and creating one in 32 appearances.

The 27-year-old is only a goal behind the league’s top scorers Sergio Aguero and Mohamed Salah, with four more games to play.

Despite being the joint top scorer so far, Salah was overlooked for this year’s award, crushing his hopes of winning it for a second consecutive year.

Should Mane win it however, he will become the third African player to do so after Salah and Riyad Mahrez.

Overall, Mane has featured for Liverpool 43 times this season across all competitions, finding the back of the net 22 times.

He could still score more as Liverpool continue to chase the Premier League title and the Champions League.
