Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas is scheduled to arrive in Egypt on Saturday for bilateral talks with his counterpart Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

During his stay in the North African country, Abbas will attend the Arab League meeting of foreign ministers called by Palestine to tackle recent developments in the occupied territories, Palestine’s ambassador to Cairo Diab Al-Louh said.

Abbas and el-Sisi met in Cairo in January, where they held discussions aimed at reconciling rival groups operating in Palestine.

Egypt is considered a key player in realizing regional stability in the middle east.

Earlier this month, President el-Sisi met with the U.S. President Donald Trump for similar discussions, which also included promoting pluralism in the Middle East.
