Thieves steal guns, ammunition from police station in Kenya as cops watch UEFA Champions League
Unidentified thieves sneaked into a police station in Kenya on Tuesday night and stole guns and ammunition after officers abandoned the station to watch a Champions League match, local Daily Nation newspaper reports.
The robbers made away with three rifles and nearly two dozen rounds of ammunition from the station located in Nandi County, located to the northwest of Nairobi.
The officers are said to have gone around 4 kilometers away from the station to watch the football match. The games were being played at 19GMT (10:00PM local time.)
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) were dispatched to the station to probe the incident as a search was mounted to find the thieves.
Football is very popular in Kenya, and a lot of Kenyans regularly watch European Leagues and the Champions League.
