Holders Cameroon ease past Comoros to qualify for AFCON tournament

Defending champions Cameroon beat Comoros Islands 3-0 in Yaounde to qualify for the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
The holders came into the game knowing that a least a draw would send them through at the expense of the visitors, who needed a win. Goals from Eric-Maxim Choupo Moting, Christian Bassogog and Clinton N’Jie saw the Indomitable Lions ease to victory.
Cameroon, coached by former Netherlands midfielder Clarence Seedorf, qualified in second behind Morocco in Group B and will defend the title they won in 2017.
Cameroon lost automatic qualification after the Confederation of African Football stripped it of the right to host the tournament last year as a number of compliance conditions were not met and a tense security situation.
In the group’s other game, Morocco settled for a goalless draw against Malawi who finished bottom of the table.
