Former Arsenal star Ian Wright has urged Liverpool’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mane to “go and have a season like Mohamed Salah had.”

This comes on the back of impressive performances by Mane that have seen him get level with the Egyptian on goals scored this season.

Salah has however had a lesser impressive period which has seen him go without scoring for seven consecutive games, his longest dry spell since joining the Reds.

Last season was one to remember for Salah, who scored 44 goals in all competitions, and set a new record for most Premier League goals in a single season.

With Salah not finding the back of the net so often now, Mane seems to have picked the mantle of leading Liverpool’s attack.

His performances have seen him lead his side to the top of the Premier League table and also help them qualify for the quarter final stage of the Champions League.

“There’s not much more for him to improve on really,” BBC quotes Wright.

“Apart from to just consistently, continuously score goals. He’s got better, of course he has. The only thing you’d look at him and think, ‘What can he do more?’

“Just go and have a season like Mo Salah had. I’m not saying he can totally replicate that kind of goalscoring form Mo had. That’s the only thing left.

“He can do everything. He can defend, he can play centre forward, he can play wing, he can play anywhere.”
