A Nigerian woman who lost two children in the Lagos building collapse has reportedly committed suicide out of grief over the loss of her loved ones.

Local news agencies report the woman to have ingested poison to end her life after the tragedy tat hit her.

The three-storey building that collapsed on 13 March housed a primary school.

According to health officials in the West African country, 20 people died in the tragedy, with scores others injured.

The authorities said forty-five people were rescued from the building and are now recovering at various government hospitals in the city.

Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode earlier this week said that the school was operating illegally in the collapsed building.

Construction authorities later said the building had been earmarked for demolition.
