Paris Saint-Germain’s Brazilian star Neymar is under investigation by European’s football body UEFA for the comments he made following his side’s defeat to Manchester United last week.
The 27-year-old described referee Damir Skomina’s late penalty decision, made after he reviewed the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) technology, as a “disgrace” on social media.
Marcus Rashford scored from the spot to earn Manchester United a 3-1 win that booked them a place in the UEFA Champions League last eight.
Neymar said the penalty “doesn’t exist”.
“It’s a disgrace. Four guys who know nothing about football watch a slow-motion replay in front of the television.”
The penalty decision prompted contrasting reactions from all over the world.
The ball hit the hand of PSG defender Presnel Kimpembe, and the referee, aided by the VAR, adjudged the fullback to have handled it deliberately.
“What can he do with his hand while his back is turned?” Neymar asked.
The Brazilian missed both legs of the Manchester United clash with injury.
