Lebanese kidnapped in northern Nigeria

A Lebanese construction worker was kidnapped by gunmen in Nigeria’s northern city of Kano on Tuesday, police said.

The Lebanese was abducted following an attack by the gunmen that left at least one dead and others injured.

“A Lebanese attached to Triacta construction company was attacked,” Reuters quotes Haruna Abdullahi, a police spokesman.

Triacta had not commented on the issue by the time of publication of this article.

The West African country has been dogged by a many abduction cases involving foreigners in the past, most of which involved ransom demands.

Many foreigners live and work in Kano, which is considered to be the economic hub of northern Nigeria.
