Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and Kenyan president Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Eritrea on Sunday ahead of scheduled tripartite talks.
The two leaders were welcomed in Asmara by Isaias Afewerki, who is also scheduled to hold separate talks with each.
The discussions between the three countries are expected to focus on regional affairs.
Before flying to Asmara, President Kenyatta held bilateral talks with PM Ahmed in Addis Ababa in a two-day visit.
While in Ethiopia, Kenyatta visited Hawassa Industrial Park in the Southern part of the country, and attended the inauguration of Debre Birhan Industrial Park in Amhara Region.
Abiy and Afewerki on the other hand have met on many occasions previously, following the resumption of bilateral ties between their two countries in July 2018.
The two leaders agreed to end a conflict that had put their two countries at loggerheads for over a decade. They resumed diplomatic ties and even opened embassies in Asmara and Addis Ababa to further boost cooperation.
Since the resumption of diplomatic ties between Ethiopia and Eritrea, various developments have occurred in line with this.
Other than the opening of embassies in Asmara and Addis Ababa, the two sides organized a football match, Ethiopian Airlines resumed flights to Eritrea and border crossing points were opened.
