Kenya recalls ambassador to Somalia

A diplomatic row is once again brewing between Kenya and Somalia over ownership of oil and gas blocks in the disputed shared maritime territorial borders.
Kenya’s ambassador to Somalia Retired General Lucas Tumbo has been recalled for urgent consultations after the country auctioned off the blocks in London.
Political and Diplomatic Secretary Ambassador Macharia Kamau termed the auction as an illegal grab of the country’s resources which amounts to an act of aggression against Kenyan sovereignty.
Lieutenant-General (Rtd) Lucas Tumbo has been summoned back to Nairobi for urgent consultations.
‘’This outrageous and provocative auction deserves and will be met with a unanimous and resounding rejection by all Kenyans as well as all people of goodwill who believe in the maintenance of international law and order and the peaceful and legal resolution of disputes,” the PS Kamau said
Ambassador Kamau says it is regrettable that despite Kenya’s effort to assist Somalia regain its footing after years of civil war it has chosen to act otherwise.
