This means Infantino will serve as the head of FIFA for the next four years.
“Following the call for election issued by the FIFA Council on 10 June 2018, FIFA’s member associations have proposed, in due time and form, the following candidate for the presidential election to take place at the 69th FIFA Congress in Paris on 5 June 2019: Mr Gianni Infantino,” FIFA said in a statement.
Infantino was elected in February 2016 to replace Sepp Blatter at the helm of the authority, and has since overseen radical changes in world football, which has in turn led to changes in various continental football structures.
The 48-year-old oversaw the expansion of the FIFA World Cup from 32 teams to 48, with the first such edition set to take place in 2022.
