“The security situations are calm in all states,” Hashim Abdel-Rahim, Sudanese police spokesman, said in a statement.

“We have not received any reports about riot or protests on Wednesday,” he said, adding that “all states are witnessing complete calmness, including Khartoum, where police circles have not registered any events.”

Over the past week, various areas in Sudan, including Khartoum, have been witnessing popular protests against the deteriorating economic conditions and price hikes of basic commodities.

According to government statistics, at least eight protesters were killed in Sudan’s eastern state of Gadarif and northern city of Atbara.
