At least 15 people were killed on Saturday when a minibus collided with a smaller vehicle in South Africa’s Kwazulu-Natal (KZN), authorities said on Sunday.

KZN Transport Department spokesperson Mluleki Mtungwa told Xinhua three of the victims were from the smaller vehicle and that the toll could rise as four seriously injured people are being treated in a nearby hospital.

Both vehicles caught fire after the collision, said KZN emergency medical services spokesman Robert McKenzie.

Earlier on Saturday, at least seven people lost their lives in another crash in KZN, bringing the total number of people killed in the province to 22 on the same day.
