Man arrested in Florida in connection with package bombs sent to top Democrats
Federal authorities have arrested a man in Plantation, Florida connected with a series of allegedly connected package bombs sent to prominent Democrats and Democratic supporters.
Florida’s Sun Sentinel reports law enforcement had apprehended a white van adorned with Trump stickers.
The identity of the man taken into custody has not been revealed, though The New York Times reports the man is in his 50s.
Plantation is located in the Miami area of Florida. In recent days, the investigation into this week’s wave of package bombs had focused on a mail processing facility in the area.
It is believed many of the bomb packages sent this week were processed at a distribution center in Opa-locka, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe counties, said law enforcement officials Thursday.
FBI spokesman Argemis Colome stated Thursday:
“Our bomb squad and K-9 Unit are currently providing assistance to our federal partners at the Opa-locka mail facility as part of the ongoing investigation into suspicious packages located in other jurisdictions.”
