FIFA President Gianni Infantino on Thursday met with Rwandese President Paul Kagame in Kigali, ahead of the 8th FIFA Council Meeting scheduled for Friday.
Infantino arrived in Kigali on Wednesday, alongside other officials from the world football governing body.
One of the agenda of the FIFA Council Meeting will be proposed new global tournaments.
The plan, an Infantino brainchild, includes the introduction of a new ‘mini World Cup’ and an expanded Club World Cup.
Infantino earlier this year wrote to FIFA Council members outlining his plans, which he says are backed by a ‘solid and serious’ group of investors willing to spend $25 billion over a 12-year cycle starting in 2021.
More than 100 delegates from around the world are expected in Kigali to attend the FIFA Council Meeting.
This is the second time Infantino is meeting President Kagame this year.
His first came in January, when the two met on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland.
