Liverpool’s Senegalese forward Sadio Mane underwent surgery on Wednesday after he sustained a hand injury on international duty.
The 26-year-old returned to Liverpool for the procedure, and has now been put on supervision ahead of the Reds game against Huddersfield on Saturday.
In a statement, the club said: “Liverpool Football Club can confirm Sadio Mane today underwent a procedure on a hand injury sustained while on international duty with Senegal.
“The surgery, conducted at a north-west hospital and supervised by club medics, was successful.
“Mane’s recovery will be monitored over the next couple of days ahead of the Reds’ return to action at Huddersfield Town on Saturday.”

Mane’s teammates Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Naby Keita have also picked up injuries while away on international duty.
Salah sustained a muscle problem and is also a doubt for the Huddersfield game, while Van Dijk is expected to recover in time from a rib injury.
Keita was carried out of Guinea’s Africa Cup of Nations clash against Rwanda and Liverpool chartered a private jet to fly him home to discover the full extent of the problem.
