FIFA extends suspension of Ghanaian football official Kwesi Nyantakyi
World football governing body FIFA has extended the ban against former Ghanaian football boss for an additional 45 days, the authority announced on Wednesday.
Kwesi Nyantakyi, a member of FIFA’s decision-making Council , was banned in June for 90 days after he was filmed apparently receiving $65,000 (£43,000) in cash from an undercover reporter.
The ban bars Nyantakyi from all football activities at both national and international level.
“During this time, Mr Nyantakyi will continue to be banned from all football-related activities at both national and international level”, FIFA said on Wednesday while announcing the ban extension.
Following his initial ban, the Ghanaian said he had resigned.
The bribe revelations were part of a two-year undercover investigation by Ghanaian journalist Anas Aremayaw Anas into football in Africa, which also revealed footage of over 100 referees and officials taking cash before games.
