
Talk Africa: FOCAC Beijing Summit 2018
African and Chinese leaders converged in Beijing this week for the 3rd Heads of State Summit of the Forum on China Africa Cooperation. The event marked its most high profile attendance since its inception 18 years ago, with up to 53 African governments, the African Union Commission & at least 27 international organizations represented. Leaders at FOCAC 2018 reiterated commitment to the FOCAC partnership that was elevated to a new level.
Both China & Africa are keen on boosting cooperation on a mutually beneficial and win-win basis, with the courses of action over the next few years detailed in the Beijing Declaration & The Beijing Action Plan.The Summit also resulted in 8 major initiatives between China & Africa and a $60 billion pledge to be channeled towards development.
