
Wilfried Zaha omitted from Cote d’Ivoire squad
Crystal Palace star Wilfried Zaha has been omitted from Cote d’Ivoire’s squad lined up ahead of their Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in Rwanda on 9 September.
The 25-year-old forward missed the Elephants friendlied in March due to injury.
Coach Kamara Ibrahim has not explained Zaha’s absence from the 23-man squad, however BBC reports un unnamed sources to say he was left out for personal reasons.
Zaha was part of the Ivory Coast squad at the 2017 Nations Cup and played in their final 2018 World Cup qualifier in November last year, which was a 2-0 loss to visiting Morocco.
Central African Republic and Guinea are the other teams in the Group.
Fellow Premier League players Eric Bailly (Manchester United) and Serge Aurier (Tottenham Hotspur) have both been called up to the squad.
