Nigerian troops on Tuesday killed four Boko Haram insurgents in separate incidents in the northeast region of the country.
The first incident occurred in the Dikwa area of Borno State, where the army killed three militants as others escaped with gunshot wounds, the army said.

The militants had ambushed the troops who were conducting a cleanup exercise to rid the area of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) buried in the ground along the road.
The army troops countered the attack and managed to neutralize three, recovering other weapons used by the terrorists.
One of the army troops was wounded in the attack and is receiving medical attention.
The other incident occurred near Ngala town in Borno state, where Nigerian soldiers conducted an ambush and killed one militant, with others escaping with gunshot wounds.
Boko Haram has waged a jihadist insurgency in Nigeria for over a decade, seeking to topple the government and instill an extreme jihadist system of governance. The war has killed tens of thousands and displaced millions others, creating a humanitarian crisis in the northeast region of the country.
