Mohamed Salah shortlisted alongside Ronaldo, Modric for UEFA Player of the Year award
Liverpool’s Egyptian prolific forward Mohamed Salah has been nominated alongside Cristiano Ronaldo and Luka Modrić for the 2017/18 UEFA Men’s Player of the Year award.
The three enjoyed stellar seasons with their clubs last season, all reaching the Champions League final, where Real Madrid beat Liverpool 3-1 to lift the trophy for the third consecutive time.
Salah featured for the Reds 13 times in their European campaign, scoring 11 goals and creating another 5.
The winner of the Men’s Player of the Year award will be announced – along with the UEFA Women’s Player of the Year and UEFA Champions League positional award winners – during the group stage draw in Monaco on Thursday 30 August.
Already, Salah was named the Premier League player of the Season for the 2017/18 period following his record breaking campaign that saw him score 34 League goals.
Cristiano Ronaldo has already won the award three times before, and will be hoping his unmatched 15 goals will ensure he pips his competitors to the award.
Luka Modrić on the other hand has never won the award, though he was shortlisted for the 2016/17 award.
