Namibia officially takes over rotating chairmanship of SADC
Namibia has officially taken over the chairmanship of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).
President Hage Geingob officially took the position at the close of the 2018 SADC Summit held in Windhoek.
The new-chair addressed the present heads of state and senior government officials representing the 16 member countries.
Geingob reaffirmed his country’s commitment to the development of the economic bloc’s growth.
“I will endeavour to promote the SADC common agenda to ensure sustainable and economical growth, and socio-economical development in the region as well as promoting common political values and maintaining democracy peace security and stability in the region,” he said in his acceptance speech.
