The Chinese capital, Beijing, will host the 2018 Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in September.
The gathering will bring together heads of state from the member countries, alongside hundreds of high-level officials and decision-makers from China and several countries on the continent.
Among the leaders expected to attend the Forum is Guinean President Alpha Conde.
Ahead of the 3rd FOCAC Summit, President Conde has hailed his country’s relations with China, saying it was mutually beneficial, and connected not just the two governments but the two peoples too.
“You know that China and Guinea have a long history of cooperation. Guinea is the first country in the Sahara to establish diplomatic relations with China. We are very satisfied with the relationship. Our cooperation with China is not only limited to between governments, but also with the people,” he said.
President Conde also noted loans availed to his country by China for development, also mentioning his country’s minerat exports to Beijing.
“Two years ago, we signed a 20-year cooperation agreement with China worth 20 billion US dollars. China provides loans to us, and we export minerals to China. What we hope now is to strengthen local cooperation.”
The 2018 FOCAC Summit will be held under the theme “China and Africa: Toward an Even Stronger Community with a Shared Future through Win-Win Co-operation.”
